About Us

Energy Forum

The Puerto Rico Energy Forum (PREF), presented by Fundación Borincana and Green Power Technologies Puerto Rico, is a collaborative initiative committed to advancing Puerto Rico’s energy transformation through open dialogue, critical analysis, and cross-sector engagement. Born from the need to unpack the island’s deep-rooted energy challenges, PREF brings together private sector leaders, government officials, technologists, and everyday energy users to confront the past, challenge the present, and shape a resilient future.

In a place where energy is not taken for granted but rather endured as a crisis, PREF provides a rare space for honest, informed, and solution-driven conversations—conversations that are hard to find elsewhere, but essential to have.

Mission

To inform, educate, and empower stakeholders to collectively understand and address Puerto Rico’s energy challenges through inclusive dialogue, innovative thinking, and actionable solutions.

Vision

A Puerto Rico where energy is no longer a barrier—but a foundation—for economic growth, public wellbeing, and climate resilience. We envision a system shaped by transparent conversation, broad participation, and transformative leadership.

Clean Energy Week

Puerto Rico Energy Forum hosts Puerto Rico Clean Energy Week in coordination with National Clean Energy Week and the Citizen’s for Responsible Energy Solutions, a DC-based nonprofit. The mission is to cover the successes, challenges, and future of energy in Puerto Rico.

Started in 2024 and continued for our second year in 2025, PREF discussed topics ranging from solar panel recycling, industrial microgrids, military resilience, nuclear power, utility economics, PREPA’s bankruptcy, LUMA’s progress, and more. Check out the panels and fireside chats from September 2025 below.
